Are you interested in how does a blind person find a partner? How important is a physical appearance in the relationship? And how does a relationship between two blind people work? This and much more, you will be able to read in Mihas blog post, who is still looking for real love.

"It is only in the heart that one can see rightly, /…/ The Little Prince

This sentence is often heard in the blind and visually impaired community. However, a sighted people establishes the first contact already at distance, with observations and a gaze. And solely one look is enough to determine partial characteristics of a person; we see how tidy a person is and what its facial expressions are.

With blind people, the first contact is established through a touch (handshake). Characteristics of a person come to life through conversation and voice. In this way, a blind person establishes an idea of another person.

Believe me; even looks can be greatly deceiving. It is therefore important that we take time to get to know each other and we do not judge people immediately if it does not look like a model from a magazine. I've heard quite a few stories when relationships based on looks ended very quickly and badly.

I am currently not in a relationship, but I can confirm that the relationships between two blind or visually impaired people, or between a blind / visually impaired person and a sighted person, can be very beautiful. I personally know quite a few happy couples.

How do two blind people live together, you might ask? The answer is really quite straightforward - easily. Because to them, the most important things are: understanding, love, respect, and support. It is not about the nice car, motorbike or something similar.

But even in a romantic relationship between two blind people there are problems. They depend only on public transport, and doing grocery shopping can be extremely tricky, not to mention when there is work to be done around the house. However, such problems can be resolved with sufficient willpower. Sometimes good neighbors or friends come to help out, but many things a blind person can do on its own.

The lives of blind couples are never boring and with some extra effort, they can do most of the things independently. Thanks to various gadgets, life of a blind person is much easier than it used to be. Let’s for an example talk about gadgets that are used in the kitchen. We can use a talking oven, stove, microwave, and a detector for detecting liquid when it comes to the edge of the glass and much more. When it comes to clothes, a blind person can use a color sensing device, which helps them dress color coordinated.

Navigation in the environment is also of great importance. Every blind person who is resourceful will be able to do many things independently. For example, go to work or to school, visit a doctor, made a purchase in a small shop, and more.

If a blind person can do all of these things, why not master as well love? It is scientifically proven that human touch improves a person’s wellbeing and health. Therefore, listen to the advice of a blind person and touch more in order to be less stressed and healthier.

So, how does a blind person feel in love? Some meet at different summer camps and excursions, which take place every year, or they meet at school. Some people try to find love through internet portals. But I do not recall many being very successful. Many sighted people get instantly scared when a person tells them he or she is blind. I have not heard of any disease that can transmit over the computer screen. However, if something like that can happen, let me know so I can warn the others.
